Moreton School in Bushbury, launched an appeal in school and on Facebook to gather donations towards Christmas Eve treat boxes and food hampers to support those who may be struggling.

Nicola Bayliss, headteacher, said: "Many of our families are suffering both financially and emotionally as result of the devastating impact of Covid.

“Christmas can be a difficult time for many, even without the pandemic, and the staff and students here always go above and beyond to help others at this time of year.

“We have been truly humbled by the support shown by the community.

"A group of parents, led by Lisa Johnson, organised a raffle that raised an incredible £500.

"One parent wrote to us and donated food vouchers, saying that she wanted to give back the community that had helped her and her son when they spent a previous Christmas in hostel.”
