St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School, Sedgley Road, in Wolverhampton received the accolade from The Sunday Times out of 16,000 schools in the country – coming in at 313 out of 350.

The school is currently a part of St Batholomew’s CE Multi Academy Trust, along with St Benedict Biscop CE Primary School, Woodfield Infant School and Woodfield Junior School.

Katy Kent, executive headteacher at the school, said: “I’m proud on behalf of the children and the staff. We’ve been listed for the last five years so we’re really pleased.

“We’re just really proud of the children because it comes down to them achieving such high standards.

“There’s always room for improvements for everybody to make. We always strive to be the very best we can be.

“I’m sure it will help us to continue on the success of the school and the multi-academy trust.”

Katy Kent, who has been executive headteacher for two years, was headteacher at the school for 11 years.

She added: “St Barts is now a multi-academy trust and all schools in the trust have made very good progress.

“For staff and children and parents, it’s good recognition. We would aspire for all the schools in the trust to be listed.

“Standards have risen significantly and we’ve continued to improve and maintain our very high standards.”
