The school sent text messages and e-mails to parents today after the panel overlooking a dining area shattered.
Staff said the school would be closed as a precaution while all other panels were checked.
A presentation on the school's move to academy status was postponed as a result of the drama.
Headteacher Mark Capel said: "This is a precautionary measure and nobody has been hurt. We will keep you informed. We expect to be open as usual tomorrow.
"Please accept our sincere apologies but you will appreciate the paramount importance of the safety of all the children in the school."
