Investigation after couple allegedly pushed into canal

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses and information following reports that a couple were pushed into a canal in Stourport-on-Severn.

Officers were called to the canal near to York Street at just before 8am on Wednesday, April 28 after receiving a report that a man and a woman had been pushed into the water following an altercation with a fisherman.

Investigating officer, PC Chris Hillman said: “We believe a disagreement had broken out between the couple and the man who was fishing in the canal. During this verbal exchange it is reported that the fisherman pushed the couple into the water.

The man is described as being between 30 and 40 years old, slim in build, clean shaven and he was wearing baggy tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured hoodie.

He was carrying a yellow bag.
