Officers from Staffordshire Police's road policing unit went into action following a string of complaints by residents.
A total of 165 motorists were caught at a "speed worthy of prosecution" in just two hours on Saturday, the force said.
And one driver was travelling at an "eye-watering" 84mph in a 40mph zone on the route on the A449 in Coven Heath.
