Murder arrest after death of man found collapsed on Birmingham street

An alleged murderer has been arrested after a man died in hospital after being found collapsed on a street in Birmingham.

The critically injured man was found lying in Coventry Road, Yardley, at around 10.20pm on Saturday and died after being taken to hospital.

Police believe the man, in his 50s, had been assaulted just before he was found, leading to a murder investigation being launched.

A 28-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody for questioning, West Midlands Police said.

A forensic post-mortem was due to take place to establish the cause of the death.
