Robber stole watch on Wolverhampton train after 'suggesting shooting'

A man had his watch stolen on a train near Wolverhampton by a robber who he feared would shoot him.

The victim was on a train travelling between Wolverhampton and Birmingham when he was approached by a man who was on the phone.

The victim heard the man say "shall I shoot him in the leg" while on the phone and feared that the man may have had a firearm, although no gun was seen.

The robber then took the victim's watch and disembarked at Birmingham New Street before getting into a taxi outside the station, according to police.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Saturday, January 30.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, in particular a man who was sat in the same carriage across the aisle."
