Darryl Moffatt, from Erdington in Birmingham, was locked up on Monday for a total of two years and eight months over a string of seven offences.

The 30-year-old had worked as a school partnership engagement officer from 2017 with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for the region.

He had taken on the role after passing the required DBS and police vetting checks – and the offences, not linked to his work, were the first he had committed.

A spokesman said Moffatt had worked with the OPCC for three years, but they did not employ him directly – however they did cover the cost of his salary.

The 30-year-old had worked in partnership with the PCC’s office to strengthen links with secondary schools with the aim of deterring young people from crime.

Moffatt, from Short Heath Road, pleaded guilty on December 21.
