Man charged after break-in at Aldridge home

A man has been charged with aggravated theft of a car and dangerous driving following a break-in at a property in Aldridge.

Lee Smythe appeared before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Thursday.

The 35-year-old of Stratford Road, in Birmingham, is charged with aggravated taking of a motor vehicle without consent, dangerous driving, possessing a weapon for discharge of a noxious substance, driving without insurance and failing to stop.

He has been remanded to appear at crown court on February 24.

Smythe was arrested by officers from West Midlands Police in Birmingham following the burglary in Little Aston Road, in Aldridge, on Monday, January 25.

Another man, aged 40 and from Birmingham, arrested in connection with the incident, has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
