Officers from West Mercia Police travelled to an address in Stoke on Trent to assist Staffordshire Police yesterday.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and possession of a section 5 firearm.

The force said the alleged rape happened somewhere in Telford at the end of last year.

Weapons including a Taser-type device disguised as a torch and a machete were found at the property.

A spokesperson from Local Policing Priority Team North, part of West Mercia Police, said: "Requested today to assist with arresting a male in the Stoke on Trent area on suspicion of rape in Telford.

"Male found, along with a nasty looking Taser disguised as a torch and a large machete.

"Now he has some answering to do in interview."
