A man was taken to hospital after he had a mystery substance thrown at him in Walsall.

Emergency services were called to Green Lane, in Walsall, after reports of a man having an unknown substance thrown at him near Walsall College's Green Lane campus.

An ambulance crew, two paramedic officers, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene and treated the man for injuries not believed to be serious.

He was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a patient having an unknown substance thrown at him on Green Lane at 2.02pm.

"One ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one male patient, who was treated for injuries not believed to be serious.

"He was then taken to Walsall Manor Hospital by land ambulance for further assessment."

West Midlands Police have been contacted for a comment.
