The incident is believed to have taken place outside the restaurant in Bordesley Green on November 20 last year.

The matter was reported to West Midlands Police by someone inside the restaurant who had witnessed a man approaching and grabbing women outside. CCTV of the incident shows the suspect, who was riding a red bicycle at the time, grabbing the women’s buttocks.

A fourth woman contacted police the same day to report that she was sexually assaulted outside Dixy Chicken, which is just a short walk away from McDonalds.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “Footage we have looked at as part of our investigation suggests the same man is responsible for these incidents.

“We have identified and arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been released pending further investigation.

“We are now appealing directly to the three women who were assaulted to get in contact with us. We know that you might not be completely sure what happened, or how to talk about it, but our trained officers and partner organisations are here to listen and work together to support you in any way we can.

“Anyone else who witnessed what happened is urged to get in touch if they haven’t done so already. Please remember, your information could help us bring the offender to justice and make sure that other people are kept safe.”

Anyone with information can call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting crime number 20BE/286652H/20.
