Attempted murder arrest after man found with serious head injury in Stone

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an assault in Stone.

The 38-year-old victim is in a critical condition in hospital after being found by officers yesterday with a serious head injury.

Police were called to an address on Redwood Avenue in Stone at about 7.30pm to reports of a teenage male trying to open van doors.

Officers attended and discovered the victim, who had sustained a serious head injury.

He was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance, where he remains in a critical condition.

A 43-year-old man, from Stafford, was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody while inquiries continue.

There is an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
