One man arrested and two injured in car smash

A man has been arrested after fleeing the scene of a two-car smash in Walsall.

Two people were injured in the smash, which happened on Daw End Lane, Rushall.

The incident happened on Sunday, at around 4.30pm and saw roads closed off as emergency services were called to the scene.

Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service treated two men, who were both passengers in one of the cars, for injuries not believed to be serious.

One man was taken to Walsall Manor to receive further treatment, while the other was discharged at the scene.

The driver of one of the cars fled the scene, but was later detained by police, who took him to hospital.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to a two car collision in Daw End Lane, Rushall.

"The driver of the one car fled the scene. A man was later detained and taken to hospital for treatment."

"No-one else was seriously injured and anyone with information can contact us via Live Chat, or by calling 101, and quoting log 2733 of 11 October."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.31pm yesterday to reports of a two vehicle RTC at the junction of Lichfield Road and Pelsall Lane in Rushall.

"We sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene.

"We treated two men, both passengers in one of the cars, for injuries not believed to be serious.

"One of the men was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital for further treatment, the other was discharged at the scene."
