West Midlands Police are investigating after hearing reports of two incidents, one in Oldbury and one in Shirley.

The first happened at 11.45pm on Tuesday, October 6 on Wolverhampton Road in Oldbury. A driver was pulled over by a man in a silver Mercedes van claiming to be a police officer and questioning him about his vehicle.

Half an hour later, a woman in Shirley reported a similar incident, where a man in a smaller dark coloured car, with blue flashing lights on the dashboard, pulled her over. The man again claimed to be an officer and questioned her about her speeding.

On both occasions, the motorists asked the men for official ID, at which point the offenders drove off.

A spokesman for WMP said: "We want to remind drivers, especially as the nights are getting darker, to remain vigilant on the road. Police officers will always show their ID, and if you are unsure, call 101 to check their details."

If anyone has any information, contact the police on 101. Call 999 in an emergency.
