Oldbury man, 30, charged with Covid test and trace scam in Stafford

A man has been charged with trying to obtain money by posing as a coronavirus contact tracer.

Martin Payne, from Oldbury, has been charged with six counts of dishonestly purporting to be a contact tracer intending to obtain money, in Stafford.

Four charges relate to Highfields, Stafford, on Monday– with further charges in Castle Bank and Western Downs, Stafford, on the same date.

Payne, aged 30, appeared before magistrates in Newcastle, Staffordshire, on Wedneday morning and has been bailed to appear again at Cannock on November 24.
