Two injured in drive-by shooting in Birmingham

Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting in Birmingham.

The men, aged 24 and 28, were shot in the back and arm in Nechells Park Road, Nechells, just before 1.15am.

Police only became aware of the incident when the injured men took themselves to hospital for treatment.

Two shotgun cartridges were examined by police officers at the scene before being covered to protect the evidence.

Nobody has been arrested.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "We’re investigating a double shooting on Nechells Park Road, Birmingham just before 1.15am this morning where two men sustained minor injuries.

"We were alerted after a 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old self-presented at hospital with gunshot injuries to their arm and back. Fortunately, their injuries are not serious.

"It is believed a firearm was discharged from a car near to Nechells Park Road Post Office at around 1.12am.
