Man in court after teenager sexually assaulted and robbed in Walsall

A man has appeared in court after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted and robbed on a canal towpath in Walsall.

The 14-year-old victim was grabbed by the throat on the pathway off Green Rock Lane, Bloxwich, at 3pm on Friday.

The teenager was forced to the ground – with her attacker escaping with her mobile phone, bank card and airpods.

William Binsley, of Bloxwich Road South in Willenhall, has been charged over the attack.

The 43-year-old appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday, August 25.

He entered no pleas to the charges during the hearing.
