Teenager chased down by police as machete found in bushes of Black Country park

A machete was found and a teenager was arrested after reports of armed men in a Black Country park.

Officers were called to Silver Jubilee Park in Coseley at about 4.45pm on Thursday.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed weapon after being chased down by police on foot and a machete was found in bushes nearby.

The suspect has since been released pending further enquiries.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to reports of three men seen with a weapon at Silver Jubilee Park in Coseley just after 4.45pm yesterday.

"Officers attended and following a short foot chase a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed weapon.

"A machete was found by officers in nearby bushes and our investigations are continuing.

"The 17-year-old was today released pending further enquiries.
