Trio in court after whiskey stolen from pub on lockdown reopening

Three men are due to appear in court after stealing whiskey on the first night pubs were allowed to reopen since lockdown.

The men have been charged with burglary after allegedly stealing a bottle of whiskey from The Shireland Bar and Grill pub in Shireland Road, Smethwick on Saturday, July 4.

Ravinder Basra, aged 29, of Wrenbury Road, Bilston; Balbaksh Bains, aged 28, of Weeford Drive, Handsworth, and Raj Mander, 28, of Launceston Close, Walsall, were detained during the evening.

It was the first night pubs across the UK were allowed to reopen since March – under strict social distancing rules.

The men are due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court on August 3.
