The crash happened in Stourport when a grey Ford EcoSport turned into Gilgal - a one-way road - while the woman in her late 70s approached from the opposite direction.

The car failed to stop at the scene of the crash, which happened at around 9.45am yesterday, and police are trying to trace the driver's whereabouts.

PC Cadwallader, from West Mercia Police, said: "It would appear a car was travelling on Vale Road when it then turned right onto the Gilgal as the bicycle was approaching from the opposite direction and turning left onto the Gilgal.

"The car and the bicycle have then reportedly collided at low speed.

"The cyclist was seriously injured and is in hospital receiving medical care.

"If you witnessed the incident or were in the area and have a dashcam fitted, you may have caught the incident on camera and I would ask you to please contact me."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quote incident number 144s of June 23 and ask for the details to be sent to PC Cadwallader.
