Police followed the black BMW after it failed to stop in Great Barr on Sunday afternoon.

The BMW collided with a bus and another car in Hamstead Road, near Tesco Express and the junction with Woodfort Road.

The driver fled on foot following the crash at around 5pm, said West Midlands Police.

Officers used a Taser to detain a 24-year-old man a short time later.

He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and theft of a motor vehicle.

The man was taken into police custody for questioning and has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue, said a force spokesman.
