Woman charged after theft of charity box cash at hospital

A woman has been arrested and charged following the theft of money from a charity box at a Midlands hospital.

The charity box was stolen from the cancer centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham

Emma Andrews, of Leehurst Crescent, Harborne, in Birmingham, was arrested by West Midlands Police after the contents of the box were stolen at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Cancer Centre in the city.

It was alleged that approximately £400 was inside the box when the lid was forced open and emptied at about 10pm last Wednesday, May 20.

The 42-year-old has been charged with burglary and remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday.
