Autistic man attacked outside shop while on daily lockdown exercise

A man who has autism was taken to hospital after being attacked in Dudley.

His sister posted an appeal for help on Facebook after the victim was attacked on his daily lockdown walk.

He was assaulted outside the Costcutter store on Dibdale Road, in the Milking Bank area, on Monday afternoon.

Police are investigating the attack on the 31-year-old man which happened at around 5pm.

The victim's sister, in a post on the Spotted: Milking Bank Facebook page said: "My brother, who has autism was attacked at the footpath opposite the Costcutter store while on his daily exercise walk.

"The injuries are severe and he’s currently being treated at the hospital."

She added: "The person who did this needs to be caught."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to hospital for further assessment."

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman added: "Officers are looking at CCTV footage and our enquiries are continuing."
