Man charged with attempted murder of woman

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in Birmingham.

The 35-year-old woman suffered a number of knife wounds to her neck and body in Wood End Road, Erdington, on Thursday. She remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Mohammed Farooq, 54, of Whatley Road, Handsworth, was arrested nearby and charged with attempted murder, possession of a bladed article and using threatening behaviour with a bladed article.

Farooq was appearing before Birmingham magistrates today.
