Offenders have targeted nine licenced premises in Tamworth between March 30 and April 6.

Once inside the pubs, thieves are targeting the games machines for cash.

Pubs that have been targeted include the Ladybridge Beefeater on Bonehill Road, the White Lion in Aldergate, Centurion Park Brewer's Fayre in Wilnecote, Queen's Head in Wilnecote, Winning Post in Aryle Street, Bolebridge in Bolebridge Street, Tamworth Arms in Lichfield Street, Amington in Amington Road and the Old Liberal House in Woodhouse Lane.

Staffordshire Police is now appealing for witnesses and warning publicans to monitor their security during lockdown.

Chief Inspector Ash Farrington, of Tamworth Neighbourhood Policing Team, urged them to ensure their properties were secure and that any cash had been removed from the premises.

He said: "Of course the lockdown means pubs are not open and can be seen as targets for opportunistic thieves and burglars. If anyone has witnessed any of these incidents then please get in touch.

"We are investigating a number of possible leads but would welcome further assistance from the public.”

Anyone with information should call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 817 of April 4.
