Man arrested after car crashes into lamp post in Wolverhampton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after his car hit a lamp post in Wolverhampton.

Police were called to Wobaston Road, in the Fordhouses area of the city, shortly before 7am on Saturday(7) morning.

The 22-year-old man was taken to hospital to be treated for a suspected hand injury, before being taken into police custody.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of drink-driving after his car hit a lamppost on Wobaston Road in Wolverhampton, just before 7am this morning.

"He has been taken to hospital with a suspected hand injury, before he will be taken into police custody.

"Enquiries continue and anyone with information is asked to contact us."
