Man charged as officers assaulted after shop ram-raid

A man has been charged after police officers were attacked during an investigation into a shop ram-raid.

Cigarettes and cash were stolen in the raid at Sangha's Supermarket, in Bilston, on Monday.

The shop, in Church Street, was targeted at around 2.30am.

Two officers were also assaulted suffering minor injuries.

David Potts, aged 38, of no fixed address was charged in connection with the incident.

He is accused of burglary, two counts of assault, dangerous driving, no insurance, receiving stolen goods and possession of drugs.

Potts appeared at Dudley Magistrates' Court today, before he was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 31.

The investigation into the raid continues say police.
