Family tied up during Birmingham house robbery

A family – including a 97-year-old man – were tied up during a terrifying daytime robbery at their Birmingham home.

Police were called just after 2.30pm on Tuesday to an address in Oakland Road, Handsworth, after three masked intruders forced their way inside.

The offenders threatened the family, before they were tied up in the bathroom.

The offenders then search the home and stole electrical items and personal belongings.

The victims were shaken, but not injured, and are being support by police officers.

West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation into the robbery and is calling for any witnesses to contact them.
