Arrests after morning disorder at Wednesfield pub

A man has been charged after trouble flared at a Wednesfield pub.

Police were called to the Royal Tiger pub, off High Street, at around 8am on Saturday after reports of two men being abusive to staff.

The men were reported to have been refusing to leave the public house when asked by staff.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He remained in police custody on Saturday afternoon.

A 28-year-old man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He has since been charged and will appear at Dudley Magistrates Court next week.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "We were called to the Royal Tiger pub in Wednesfield at 8am on Saturday to reports of two men being abusive to staff and refusing to leave.

"Our officers arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He remained in police custody on Saturday afternoon.

"Kyle Berridge was arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a public place, and subsequently charged.

"The 28-year-old of Castlebridge Gardens, in Wolverhampton, has been bailed to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court on 5 March at 9.30am."

Sharing the incident on Twitter, Wednesfield Police said: "First early incident of the day for the team, where we assisted @ResponseWMP to report of disorder at one of the local pubs on High Street.

"Two males subsequently arrested for assault, criminal damage and public order offences."
