Suspected car thieves arrested after dramatic pursuit near Dudley

Two suspected car thieves have been arrested following a dramatic police pursuit near Dudley.

Police say they spotted a stolen car while out on patrol in the Lye area last night. The driver failed to pull over and the police car was struck during the incident which happened in The Hayes, say officers.

The pair then fled on foot, but were chased by police who were also on foot who caught up with them.

In a Twitter post Stourbridge police stated that the pair were arrested while officers were carrying out Operation Guardian patrols.

"The vehicle failed to stop and rammed a police vehicle and both males detained after a foot chase on the Hayes," the post stated.

Stourbridge Police posted on Twitter: "Officers from C unit Brierley Hill have pursued this stolen car in Lye this evening. When the car gave up the occupants ran.

"Following a foot chase they are both now in custody on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle and possession with intent to supply drugs."
