Pair arrested as Aston Villa beat Leicester City in Carabao Cup semi-final

Two men have been arrested amid tensions during Aston Villa's League Cup semi-final win against Leicester City.

West Midlands Police confirmed two men were detained in separate incidents during Tuesday's clash at Villa Park.

Villa won the second leg 2-1 to complete a 3-2 aggregate win to secure a place in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on March 1.

Police said a 19-year-old man, from Birmingham, was arrested during the game on suspicion of assaulting two stewards and possession of cannabis.

He has been released pending further investigation.

Officers also detained a 19-year-old man from Leicestershire outside the ground,

He was later charged with possession of cocaine and obstructing police.

The teenager has been bailed to a later court date.
