WATCH: Thief snatches 20 bread loaves and hose pipe in shop raid

This is the moment a thief makes off from a shop with a tray of bread loaves in a bizarre early morning raid.

CCTV captured the thief carrying away his £40 haul of bread soon after a delivery to the shop in Great Barr.

He came back moments later to snatch a hose pipe worth around £20, says the puzzled shop owner who appealed for information today.

The hooded figure can be seen driving up to the Nisa Local in Beacon Road, in the early hours last Thursday.

Footage shows the man walk up the rear of the Nisa before disappearing out of sight.

He soon reappears with a crate of bread during the raid at around 2am.

Bal Singh, who has owned the shop since 2007, said: "He broke the lock to a back shed after seeing the bread wagon pull up.

"He stole two trays which is about 20 loaves of bread with some rolls and things.

"It has probably cost me £40 for the hose pipe and £20 for the bread.

"We've had thefts in the store before, but nothing like this.

"I was annoyed, really gobsmacked.

"It's not like the bread is worth much to him, he might've sold it on.

"He pulled up in a new car too.

"We've never had any issues, I couldn't believe it."

West Midlands Police said they have received a report and inquiries are ongoing.
