Six taken to hospital after suspected stolen car crashes in Dudley

A suspected stolen vehicle crashed into another car during a police chase in Dudley.

The BMW, which is believed to have been stolen during a car-jacking in the town yesterday, hit a VW Passat on Scotts Green Island, Stourbridge Road, just before 1.45pm today, closing nearby roads.

A man, woman, and two children inside the VW Passat were all taken to hospital to be checked over, police said, along with a passenger of the BMW.

And a police officer has also been taken to hospital after being injured while trying to detain the driver who managed to get away.

Police said the road should reopen by 4pm today.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police are currently at Scotts Green Island, Stourbridge Road, after a suspected stolen car which was being pursued by police hit another vehicle, leaving a number of people injured.

"The collision happened just before 1.45pm following a short pursuit involving a BMW thought to have been taken in a car-jacking in Dudley yesterday.

"The people in the VW Passat which was struck - a man, woman and two children - were taken to hospital for checks.

"A passenger of the BMW was also taken to hospital for checks, along with a police officer injured while trying to detain the driver.

"Officers are continuing to search for the driver, and the road is expected to be open again by 4pm."
