Woman attacked and taken to hospital after attempted robbery in Lichfield

A woman was left with severe bruising to her face after an attempted robbery in Lichfield.

Police are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage after the attacker left their 67-year-old victim needing hospital treatment.

She was walking down Trent Valley Road with her shopping when she was attacked between 4pm and 4:30pm on December 23.

The suspect, believed to be a teenage boy on a white bike, fled after trying to steal the woman's handbag.

Nothing was taken but the victim was left shaken and suffered injuries to her face and arm having fallen over in an attempt to stop her belongings from being taken.

Officers are doing a CCTV sweep of the area and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.
