Appeal after purse stolen outside Sikh temple

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a theft outside a Sikh temple.

A woman was sitting on a bench outside the Guru Nanak Gurdwara on Stratford Road in Sparkhill, Birmingham, when her purse was taken from her bag.

She chased after the man and he assaulted her by pushing her away, police said.

The incident took place at around 2pm on Christmas Eve.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him about a theft which happened on Christmas Eve (24 December) at around 2pm.

"If you know who he is please get in touch."

Anyone with information can call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 20BE/305163M/19.
