Man injured after group burst into home where cannabis plants found

A group of people, including one armed with a metal bar, burst into a home in a raid where cannabis was being grown.

Police say a man inside the house was left seriously injured during the burglary in the early hours of Tuesday.

Officers were called to the terrace house in Kentish Road on the border between Handsworth and Smethwick.

The group forced entry to the house where it is believed the man was assaulted at around 5.20am.

It is unclear if anything was stolen in the burglary, says West Midlands Police.

Approximately 100 cannabis plants were discovered at the scene and are currently being recovered.
