Bogus worker makes pensioner hand over 'large amount of cash' in Walsall

A bogus workman made a pensioner hand over a "large amount of cash" for unnecessary roof repairs in Walsall.

A man, described as white, of medium height and build, convinced the elderly victim in Meadow Road, Aldridge, to go to a cash point and give him money. for roof repairs which were not carried out

The offender has visited the address on at least two occasions, though it was during a visit to the address on Monday, that he persuaded the victim to allow him to enter the loft, following which he made his demand for cash.

The victim went to the bank to withdraw the money while the offender waited at the address. No vehicle was seen, though this could have been parked in a street nearby.

Police are investigating this crime and have put safeguarding measures in place.
