A drugs stash was found behind a loose brick in a garden wall in Birmingham.

The wall and the stash of drugs

A total of £7,000 in cash and an imitation handgun was also found after a police gangs unit raided two properties and arrested two men linked to a drugs line.

Officers raided an address in Imperial Road, Bordesley Green, at 10.30am yesterday where about £5,000 in cash was seized.

And a simultaneous warrant in Arden Road, Saltley, uncovered 70 wraps of suspected cocaine, £2,000 in cash and an imitation handgun.

Two men, both aged 32, were arrested and questioned on suspicion of firearms offences and drug dealing. They have been released under investigation to allow officers time for the powder to be analysed and more enquiries to be carried out.

The imitation gun

Sergeant Dominic Livesey from Birmingham’s Organised Crime Unit, said: “The drugs were concealed behind a brick in a rear garden wall. One of the officers noticed the brick appeared slightly dislodged…it was a great spot and led to a significant seizure of what we believe is cocaine.

“The pistol is a realistic looking imitation and to the untrained eye could certainly be mistaken for a genuine live-firing handgun.

“The warrants came on the back of police and community intelligence suggesting the addresses were linked to a drugs line.

“We always take information from the community seriously and handle it with the utmost confidence. If anyone suspects drug dealing in their community then please get in touch so we can take action.”
