Suspected burglary leads police to Wednesfield cannabis farm

A cannabis farm was found by police in Wednesfield.

Police were called to reports of two people using bricks to smash their way into a property in Orchard Road on Saturday.

Officers arrived to find the premises being used to grow cannabis in three rooms and the loft.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and later released and a second man is believed to have fled from the scene in a car.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police received a 999 call at 6.50am on Saturday morning reporting a burglary in progress at a semi-detached property in Orchard Road, Wednesfield.

"It's understood two people used a brick to smash a window before loading items into a vehicle.

"Officers arrived to find the targeted premises was being used to grow cannabis, with evidence of drugs being cultivated in three rooms plus the loft space.

"A 26-year-old man, an Albanian national, was spotted running from the scene and arrested nearby.

"He was later released without charge while enquiries continue into both the cannabis farm and the break-in.

"It's believed a second offender made off in a vehicle."
