Teenager stabbed in back in Wolverhampton

A teenager has been stabbed in the back in Wolverhampton.

The 17-year-old victim was stabbed in Merridale Street West, Merridale, just after 8pm yesterday.

He was taken to hospital where he remains today, with an injury to his back which is not thought to be serious.

Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to Merridale Street West at 8.11pm to reports of a teenage male having been stabbed.

"An ambulance, a paramedic officer, a trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.

"The man was assessed and treated before being taken by ambulance to hospital for further treatment."
