West Bromwich crash victim still critical nine days on

A man who was hit by a car in West Bromwich remains in a critical condition more than a week on from the crash.

The man, aged 58, was seriously injured when he was hit by a silver Honda Civic as he crossed Dudley Street shortly after midnight on September 22.

The Civic initially stopped but left the scene before emergency services arrived at the scene near the Shell petrol station, West Midlands Police said.

The car has since been recovered and a 32-year-old man has been "voluntarily interviewed" as part of the investigation.

However the pedestrian remains critically injured nine days on from the crash.

Officers today appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash but is yet to speak to police to get in contact.

They are particularly keen to speak with drivers who were travelling in the vicinity and may have dashcam footage.

Pc Kate Hall, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "A man has sadly been seriously injured and we are working to establish the circumstances around what happened. We are keen to hear from anyone who can assist us in our enquiries."
