Daniel Pelechacz was allegedly murdered in West Bromwich

Kyrsztof Kowalski has been charged with the murder of Daniel Pelechacz at Polski Bar Klimat in the early hours of September 30, 2018.

It is alleged the 38-year-old, from Greets Green Road in West Bromwich, shoved Mr Pelechacz down a flight of stairs in the Polish nightclub on the corner of Temple Street and High Street.

Mr Pelechacz, a 40-year-old truck driver from Wednesbury, was found by police propped up against a wall around five to 10 metres from the bar's entrance.

He'd suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital but died two days later.

Unemployed Kowalski was arrested by West Midlands Police in November last year and released under investigation while enquiries progressed.

He was re-arrested on Monday and appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court where he was charged with murder.

Kowalski was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday.

Three other men have also been arrested during the investigation but all have been released without charge.

Detective Sergeant Mark Allen, from West Midland Police's Homicide Unit, said: "We are continuing to appeal for witnesses who were at the Klimat Club on the night and who might have seen anything that could help our investigation.

“Clearly bringing a murder charge against an individual is a significant step but our enquiries continue – any information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”

The Village Bar and Grill below the Klimat club had its licence permanently revoked in the wake of the incident.

A tribute from Mr Pelechacz's family after his death said: "Daniel’s untimely death has devastated our family.

“Daniel was a much-loved son, brother and father to three children who he totally adored."
