Teenager arrested over attack on jogger near Stafford

A teenager has been arrested after a woman was attacked on a towpath near Stafford.

The woman was left with cuts and bruises after the attack

A woman in her early 20s was assaulted as she ran along a towpath near to Essex Bridge in Great Haywood at around 7pm last Tuesday.

The woman suffered cuts, bruises and swelling to her head. Her headphones were smashed and her clothing was torn.

A 17-year-old boy, from Hednesford, has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and released under investigation pending further inquiries.

Officers are continuing to appeal for information and have urged people to call 101 quoting incident number 907 of August 13.
