Trial date set for West Midlands Pc accused of misconduct

A police officer alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a victim of domestic abuse will stand trial next April.

Pc James Ankrett, of West Midlands Police, is charged with misconduct in public office and improper exercise of police powers after meeting the woman during his duties as a police officer.

The 38-year-old of Hallam Way, Hednesford, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday when a trial date was set for April 20 next year.

Ankrett, who was charged in May, was given conditional bail.
