JAILED: Group linked to burglaries and vehicle thefts

Three men have been jailed for more than 14 years after homes were burgled and vehicles stolen.

Police say the group were linked to break-ins at homes in Cannock, Wednesbury, Hagley and Bromsgrove.

Vehicles were stolen in the burglaries which took place between November 23 and December 10, 2018.

Hakim Aziz, Bran Lloyd and Ashleigh Hammond were locked up after admitting offences at Worcester Crown Court on July 29.

Detective Constable Rhian O'Reilly, from West Mercia Police, said: "We welcome these convictions as burglary is a very emotive and intrusive crime.

"To see these offenders behind bars should hopefully reassure the victims that justice has been done.

"Tackling burglary remains a priority for West Mercia Police and we are committed to protecting our communities and reducing the impact of burglary by working closely with our partner agencies to ensure offenders are brought to justice.

"Making it difficult for thieves is paramount and we would always urge people to be vigilant."

Aziz, 21, of Nicholls Street, West Bromwich, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted burglary of a dwelling, two counts of burglary of a dwelling and theft of a motor vehicle, and one charge of handling stolen goods.

He was jailed to five years and six months in prison, disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to take an extended re-test.

Lloyd, also 21, of Hurst Lane, Tipton, admitted one count of attempted burglary and a single charge of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was put behind bars for four years and eight months.

Hammond, 23, of High Street, West Bromwich, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and two counts of burglary of a dwelling and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to take an extended re-test.
