Two men released after police chase in Smethwick

Two men, who were arrested after failing to stop in a suspected stolen car, have been released.

Officer on patrol on Cheshire Road in Smethwick noticed a car they believed was stolen at 4.40pm on Tuesday.

The car failed to stop for police, who gave chase, before it stopped on the same road.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of the theft of a motor vehicle and a 21-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.

West Midlands Police has now confirmed that the two men have been "released pending further investigation."
