A caravan bursting with rubbish was found dumped on the roadside by police in Wednesfield.

The caravan - which was filled with discarded items including mattresses, a tyre and a tent - was discovered in Watery Lane just after 4.15pm today.

The vehicle towing the caravan had also been abandoned. Officers are carrying out enquiries into the driver and a number of "road traffic offences", said PC Mark Foster.

He tweeted: "Police officers from @WednesfieldWMP have just come across an abandoned vehicle towing a caravan full of rubbish.

"Strangely both vehicles notified off road.

"They will be now - as we are having them recovered and enquires into driver to deal with road traffic offences."
