Gang pose as police in Wolverhampton distraction burglary

A gang of burglars stole cash from a Wolverhampton home after posing as police officers.

The distraction burglary took place at a house on Wynchcombe Avenue in Penn between 9.15pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday July 2.

Three men wearing balaclavas and dark clothing pretended to be police officers to gain entry to the home before making off with "an amount of cash."

West Midlands Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "If you have any knowledge of this incident that you think could help with the investigation of this crime please call us on 101 or please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in confidence."

Anyone with information can also contact police via live chat at between 8am to midnight, quoting crime reference number 20WV/1566632A/19.
