Just minutes later police caught up with Ezra Jones hitting speeds of up to 130mph on the M6.

Jones was jailed for three years as officers condemned his actions saying he "risked the lives" of other motorists during the chase.

CCTV captured Jones, 46, demanding the victim got out of her car at Dudley Port Railway Station on March 25 and pulling open the door saying "I don't want to hurt you".

Jones threatened the woman with a clenched fist and the woman, who is in her 40s, got out of the BMW 2 Series without injury.

When Jones did not immediately drive off she pulled open the car door and asked for her house keys, and he responded with a clenched fist.

He then sped towards the M6 where he raced down the hard shoulder, weaved between traffic and reached speeds of up to 130mph.

Specialist traffic officers from West Midlands police and Warwickshire police were involved in the chase which is captured on video.

It came to an end when Jones crashed the BMW, leaving it smoking and with a front light out. He pulled it onto the hard shoulder and behind a waiting police vehicle.

He then jumped out of the car and demanded “arrest me, arrest me” but continued to act violently, even trying to head-butt an officer.

Jones, of Cecil Road in Stockland Green, Birmingham, was sentenced for robbery and dangerous driving on June 26 at Birmingham Crown Court.

He has also been disqualified from driving for four years and three months.

Investigating officer, DC Dan HART of the British Transport Police said: “This was a shocking case that was quickly resolved with the help of highly trained drivers from our neighbouring police forces.

“Jones risked the lives of everyone driving on the road that night and this has been recognised in the severity of his sentence. Fortunately it was resolved without injury to anyone.”
